Why Occupational Therapy

PASSION

I am driven by a deep passion for serving children, promoting occupational justice, and empowering individuals in underserved or marginalized systems, especially the foster care community. My experiences as a student leader, advocate, mentor, and community volunteer have shaped a professional identity rooted in compassion, cultural humility, and commitment to systemic change.

My occupational therapy journey is fueled by:

  • A lifelong connection with foster care advocacy through Falcon Children’s Home

  • A desire to elevate trauma-informed, evidence-based OT practice

  • Dedication to policy reform, knowledge translation, and equitable access to services

  • A strong belief in building resilience and participation for everyone who have experienced adversity

Career Objective

My passion for working with children and underserved populations. My work academically and professionally is centered on improving outcomes for populations who have historically been overlooked, especially children in foster care who deserve dignity, stability, and meaningful participation in everyday life.

Professional Profile:

I bring a blend of trauma-informed perspective, leadership experience, research engagement, and advocacy commitment. My academic and community work focus on fostering resilience, promoting occupational participation, and addressing systemic inequities that disproportionately affect children in foster care and other marginalized groups.I aim to practice occupational therapy at both the individual and systems level—combining intervention, research translation, and policy advocacy to expand the profession’s presence where it is needed most.
